Neighbor Friendly Fence

If you're reading this article then most likely you're a good neighbor concerned about selecting the right kind of fence that's not only attractive to you - but to your neighbor and neighborhood as well. Often fence lines need to make runs where the back of the fence (the back being the horizontal supports rail side) is seen from the street or from a neighbor's view. Many people prefer not to see the rail side and it's certainly understandable to want to select a fence that's attractive from all views.

The one thing not to do is install your fence with the rail side facing out which gives your yard the visually appealing fencing side and puts the rail side in view for your neighbor. Not only is this poor fence etiquette, it's very bad security. After all, one of the most important aspects of a fence is to keep people out and you don't want to provide them with convenient footing by putting the rail side out.

Fortunately, most homeowner understand this and do not make this mistake, but they still want a fence style that's attractive for everyone - including their own view. The solution is fencing styles which are neighbor friendly. The term 'Neighbor Friendly Fence' are fence styles where there is not the exposed horizontal support rail on either side of the fence. This way, the fence provides the same attractive view from all sides.

With wood fencing, this is commonly achieved with a semi-privacy style. This is where the support rail runs between the posts and then the vertical fencing styles are nailed in alternating fashion on both sides of the fence. They alternate to cut down on costs because it's too expensive and heavy to cover both sides of the fence fully. The disadvantage is however that there are small gaps in the fence that while not large, do allow a bit of sight through the fence, thus the term semi-private fence. Some people are fine with this, but if you're looking for a full privacy fence for your backyard or property an excellent solution is residential vinyl fence with routed posts.

Advantages with Vinyl Privacy Fence - It's Neighbor Friendly
Vinyl fence provides the best choice for neighbor friendly fence because it's attractive from both sides. It has the same view from both sides because the construction of quality vinyl fence makes use of routed wholes in the posts in which the horizontal support rails are places. Next the vertical fence styles fit within the channels. This method of construction is not only visibly pleasing - but it's an excellent construction technique that is far superior to metal brackets.

The other advantage with vinyl privacy fence is that it's a full privacy fence that's also neighbor friendly, so unlike wood, you don't have to compromise on semi privacy in order to have a fence that's attractive for everyone.
